As if technology hasn't infiltrated into more parts of our lives than ever before, how about on chopping boards? Designer Jaewan Jeong's concept of the Almighty Board acts as a cutting board, with a recipe display, and would even notify you if the board is properly washed or not.

Touché, technology, touché.

There are a lot of logomarques and logotypes out there which are hand rendered for its beauty, but without the emotional meaning behind the marque and focus on the purpose of the design, the marque could fall dangerously generic.

Then I came across this brand identity on the Behance Network last week - the creative process which was applied to this brand identity truly creates a connection between the essence of the brand's character and its founder, Perry Cross, who was injured and rendered a C2 quadriplegic in 1994. It's a wonderfully thought-through brand identity and it's worth checking out the Brand Identity process.

How important is the creative process to creating strong and compelling brands to you?

A friend of mine has recently completed a piece of short film called Naraka. Named after the sanskrit term for Hell, this short film is constructed around the idea of guilt and desribes one man's gradual descent into the tormented landscape of paranoia and psychosis. As a sidenote, this short was very loosely inspired by Edgar Allan-Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart".

As it's the bank holidays this weekend in the UK, I'm sure a lot of people have jetted off somewhere for the sunny beaches and to take in other cultures. I came across a collection of airline logos from China and Hong Kong. The use of dragons and lotuses and mythical and stereotypically asian iconography, the use of typography, it was insightful to see the difference in the attitude towards branding between the East and the West.

There's been that ongoing debate on whether business cards are dead recently, and personally, I'm one that is still for business cards when it comes to introducing oneself to others formally; it's a quick and easy way to pass on details to one another rather than whipping out phones and do bumps or what not.

JWT's business card is one that combines both the technology and the traditional use of a business card - Augmented reality, as a concept, has not been as far reaching as one has hoped in recent years, but JWT has utilised this and created an interactive business card to maximise the potential both the use of business cards, and augmented reality to showcase their portfolio literally anywhere.
